The Harmony Foundation has said that it is greatly delighted to commend and salute the Government of India for conferring the Padma Bhushan award on Sudha Murthy for her outstanding work as a distinguished educator, author and philanthropist.

Dr Abraham Mathai, Founder and Chairman of Harmony foundation said, “ As we congratulate her for the award which was presented to her on the 74th Republic Day of India, we are humbled to recall Sudha Murthy’s personal presence to receive the prestigious Mother Teresa Memorial Award for Social Justice in 2006 in recognition of her exemplary work in healthcare amongst the underprivileged rural population of India. The truly inspiring work of her over the years has inspired not only India but the world. Global personalities like her are the epitome of empowerment and compassion. Her phenomenal service to humanity through social work and her astounding contribution to literature in Kannada and English is a legacy that has inspired us all. The grass-roots work of the Infosys Foundation under her guidance has exhibited the truest values of benevolence and is an example for others to follow the path of kindness for all”.

The Harmony Foundation said that it salutes the Government of India for recognising a global gem like Ms Sudha Murthy through the Padma Bhushan 2023 for her selfless and prodigious contributions in the field of social entrepreneurship, especially in the domain of philanthropy and social work.

As one of the recipients of the prestigious Mother Teresa Memorial Award for Social Justice 2006, the award which upholds and commemorates the legacy of Mother Teresa and her association with us through the same, we are truly proud of Ms Sudha Murthy and wish her the best in all her endeavours that continue to inspire the world. She has created an unparalleled legacy by combining social entrepreneurial abilities with an altruistic vision that benefits underprivileged and marginalised groups. Ms Murthy is truly an icon and a role model for all, especially the corporates in our country and such recognition by the Government motivates selfless individuals and organisations to excel in their endeavours towards the betterment and upliftment of the marginalised and underprivileged sections of society, Dr Abraham Mathai added.
